Cannabis – more than CBD is an important topic while discussing cannabis use. Firstly, lets quickly refresh our knowledge. CBD is a cannabinoid which is dominant in cannabis. Cannabis also contains THC, which can be psychoactive, however in much larger doses which are still prohibited in many countries.
THC binds to CB1 and CB2 receptors, while CBD interacts with ECS indirectly. It affects FAAH encyme. Both CBD and THC optimize the functioning of the endocannabinoid system, which is the supporting system for our entire bodies. (as well as for our immune system). You can read more about it here.
FULL SPECTRUM, BROAD SPECTRUM AND ISOLATE
Due to various compounds and entourage effect, full spectrum products are much more effective compared to broad spectrum or isolate. In addition to THC and CBD, they also contain other cannabionids such as CBG, CBL, CBDV, CBN and many others. Additionally, terpenes and flavonoids are also preserved. Terpenes have a calming effect among many others and effect the taste as well. Flavonoids serve as great antioxidants.
While THC is completely extracted from broad spectrum products (and many other compounds with it), isolate is an extract of only one cannabinoid. For example 99% CBD isolate contains only CBD and no other cannabinoids or terpens and flavonoids.
In both cases we do not take full advantage of exceptional positive effects of different cannabinoids and other compounds, which optimally regulate our endocannabinoid system.
5 % OR 10 % CBD OIL (OR MORE) ?
We are often asked the question, which CBD oil is better. 5% or 10% CBD oil (or more). We can consume a smaller amount of CBD oil with higher CBD percentage and get the same result?
It is true if we consume 3 drops of 10% CBD oil, it equals to 6 drops of 5% CBD oil. However, the effect is not the same as both products contain the same amount of THC (up to 0,2% which is also a legislative limit in many countries), which is known to boost the effect of CBD (entourage effect). In this way we consume more THC in 6 drops of 5% CBD oil than we do in 3 drops of 10% CBD oil. Higher concentration of THC enables cannabinoids to work more efficiently and still does not induce a psychoactive effect.
GOOD TO KNOW
Before purchasing cannabis products it is recommended you ask the seller regarding cannabis origin, growing and processing procedures. It is very important as the soil quality and the way cannabis was grown and processed strongly effect the final product quality. Soil cannot contain high amounts of heavy metals and other toxins. In the processing part it is very important to know what kind of solvent is used and type of extraction process.
